JOHN P. MADDEN, ESQ. - Partner
Mr. Madden has extensive and varied experience as a construction litigator and client advocate, but has achieved professional distinction and international recognition as a Mediator of complex construction related disputes. Before his legal career, he served as a Civil Engineer and Construction Manager and brings significant technical expertise to the practice of law. He maintains offices in New York City and Dublin, Ireland, and has earned an international reputation as a pre-eminent construction mediator. Mr. Madden has mediated disputes arising from the "Big Dig" in Boston, and throughout Europe. Mr. Madden has serves as Arbitrator or Project Neutral in addition to his many mediations, and has lectured and published numerous articles regarding each.
Mr. Madden earned a B.S in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College (1967), a M.S. in Structural Engineering from New York University (1969), and obtained his J.D. from St. Johns University (1978). Mr. Madden also studied EC trade law at Cambridge University (England) and Comecon Trade Law at University of Warsaw (Poland), Mechanical Engineering the University of Maine (1966) and Structural Engineering at both the University of Washington (1967) and Purdue University. He has also pursued studies in Environmental Engineering at George Washington University (1975) and Trial Advocacy at the National College of Advocacy (1982).
Mr. Madden has undertaken mediation study at the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), London - Mediator Skills Training Program (2002) and Harvard University School of Law Mediator Training (2002).
He was admitted to practice in the State of New York and before the United States Southern and Eastern District Courts and the District of New Jersey and before the US Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in New Jersey and is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
